Help us celebrate our 25th anniversary this weekend! In addition to a barbecue, we will have fun competitions in chipping and putting, and the bar will be open. Come down to the clubhouse from 6 pm on Saturday 2 July, everyone is welcome!
And the winners of the Trevor Allen Texas Scramble were… the midges! I don’t think any group managed to avoid them at some point during their round.
Winners of midge management were the Curries and Andy, who also won the longest drive. Anne, Mark and Richard were a very close second, and the team from Seil – Mary (who also won nearest the pin), Donna and Robbie – were one shot off the lead in third.
Ladies’ longest drive was Wilma, and gents’ nearest the pin was Kevin Mills. Full results can be found here.
The next fixture at Taynuilt is the Senior’s Open this Wednesday, please ring if you haven’t already entered. If you’re too young for that then why not consider playing in the Isle of Seil’s inaugural Open, next Sunday? Contact details are on the previous post.
This Sunday, 12 June sees Taynuilt host the Trevor Allen Texas Scramble – teams of three, to include at least 1 lady. If you are having trouble completing a team please get in touch!
The Isle of Seil Golf Club is hosting their first ever Open Competition the following Sunday, 19th June. There will be separate competitions for Ladies and Gents. More info can be found on the flyer:
A fantastic day for the teams to compete in this fun competition. Andy R almost managed to combine the ‘Nearest the Pin’ with the ‘Longest Drive’ with his launch on the first, although Allan Stewart won the official ‘Nearest the Pin’ on the third.
Anne did her usual, and blasted the longest drive on the seventh, with Fiona’s pinpoint accuracy winning her ‘Nearest the Pin’ on the sixth.
Gents’ team winners were Mark, Kevin and Mark, and Alice, Anne and Jane came through for the ladies.
Thanks to Mairead and her crew for the food, and Murray and Hugh for the banter and managing the scorecards and results. Full results can be found here.
A mixed bag of weather for the Mixed Open did nothing to dampen the quality of golf on display.
A huge thank you to all those who worked behind the scenes – Diane and her band of helpers, who put on a lovely spread and kept us all well nourished throughout the day, and Murray and Hugh who did a sterling job, as usual, in managing scorecards and raffles. A special thanks to greenkeeper Craig and his team, for the continuing good works that have been done, and indeed are ongoing, to keep the course in such good condition.
The nett competition was won by the Shanks, who travelled up from Dumbartonshire for the event. Winners of the gross competition were the MacCalman siblings, Anne and Iain.
Longest drive was won by Anne Shanks for the ladies, and Robby McLarty for the gents.
Fiona McGlynn and Iain MacCalman each won nearest the pin.
Next date for your diaries is 15 May, for the 3-player team Stableford (ladies and gents teams). Enter online here!
Great to see so many people taking advantage of the good weather!
Sunday saw the gents playing the first round of the Inverlorn Plate. Scores were close but it was won by David L with 40 points.
The photo shows the first players on the course on Tuesday, where the ladies took part in the first round of the Altnacree Trophy. Moira smashed it with a score of 66, but her’s wasn’t the only handicap to fall. Pippa again took first place in the 9-hole competition.
Wednesday evening was the first of the mixed evening charity competitions, raising money for Cancer Care. Some good scores matched the superb conditions, with the final holes being played as the moon rose behind Ben Cruachan. Sandra and Neil were best able to keep focused, winning with a score of 39 points. Anne and Andrew came in second with 34, while Alice and Rob got third spot with 32 points.
Next date for your diaries is the Mixed Foursomes Open on Sunday 1st May, sponsored by Flit Self Drive. Choose your partners and enter online here.
Today sees the start of the 2016 season, with the ‘Two Clubs and a Putter’ competition. For some, this can be a real dilemma to choose which clubs to discard, but there are other ladies who rarely use any more than this normally (we know who you are!)!
The afternoon finishes with a meal and a chat, providing everyone an opportunity to discuss the season ahead.
Ladies, don’t forget to get your matchplay entries in by 6pm on Tuesday 6th April. All links to the entry forms can be found in the ‘Quick Links’ menu, and I’ll add a shortcut here just while you get used to the new website!
